Home › Hardware & home improvement stores

The big stores will deliver, bring an order out to your car, rent you a tool for a day, or arrange an installer. The local hardware stores are where you go to get a key cut, a screen fixed, a lock rekeyed or a blade sharpened, often by someone who's done it for years. One reminder: even when a store arranges the installer, a job of $1,000 or more needs a licensed contractor, so it's fine to ask for the license number and check it.

7 listings, in no particular order. Everything here comes from each listing's own website or a public resource page, and I've linked it under each one so you can check it yourself.

Before you hire anyone: check the license, get the price in writing, and please don't pay it all up front. My two-minute hiring guide walks you through it.

Do you run one of these businesses, or know a good one I've missed? Listings are free.
